History

The European Oilfield Speciality Chemicals Association (EOSCA) was formed in 1990 in response to increasing regulatory requirements for approval of offshore chemicals and drilling muds in the late 1980’s.

The North Sea regulators had considered the E & P Forum to represent all the industry, and it was felt that the chemical suppliers and their end-users (the oil and gas operators) would have the same concerns. However, EOSCA managed to convince first the UK, then the Dutch and latterly the Norwegian regulators that there was merit in having another industry body representing the supply side of the industry when discussing regulations that directly concern the supply, use and discharge of their chemicals.

From this early beginnings, EOSCA has developed into a recognised and respected consultee in the oilfield chemical regulation field. See some of the Current Projects EOSCA are working on.
